The 2010-2011 curling season is fast approaching. The ice maker Barry Tall is busy preparing the ice for what looks to be a very busy curling season. Swan River Curling rink has a reputation for having outstanding ice and I know Barry will be putting in the hours again this year to have it "just right" for the season and for the competitions scheduled. Kevin Grieg the concession/bar manager is busy stocking the bar and the concession with all your favorite beverages and food items.
Many hands are hard at work, getting the facility ready! Let this year be the year that you volunteer to help your club have a great curling season. If you are not able to hold a position on the executive please let them know you are able to help out in other areas, "many hands lighten the load."
The first exciting event of the season will be the White's Curling Classic in November. The committee has put in many hours organizing this world class event. Curling fans will be excited to hear that Kevin Martin and his team will be back again this year. Fans will recall what a treat it was to have him curl in our rink last year. Kevin and his team enjoyed talking with people and was always willing to stop for autographs and photos. Make sure you stop by the rink November 11-14, you think their rink is awesome on TV wait till you see them in person! Give Gord Hardy a call if you can help out on that weekend.
On March 23-27 the Provincial Mixed Championship will be held in Swan River. Once again come to the rink to watch some great curling. More info will be posted as it comes available.
